Low energy levels / Lethargy

Low Energy Levels | Chronic Fatigue Syndrome :

Chronic fatigue is also known as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis.
Symptoms of fatigue include muscle weakness, depression, headaches, constant need to rest & sleep, swollen glands, mental inefficiency - difficulty to remember and concentrate.

Natural healthcare practitioners have found that many people suffering from constant low energy levels also suffer from Candida Albicans and/or Leaky Gut Syndrome (LGS) and/or having had Glandular Fever at some stage of their lives.

This is why many chronic fatigue syndrome suffers who follow treatments designed for Candida Albicans / LGS report improvement in energy and overall well being after such treatment.

This is due to the fact that in many cases, the patient's digestive system, nutritional status, immune system and therefore recuperation ability is enhanced once they are able to break down and utilise foods & nutrients more efficiently.

Diets & food intake for low energy :

Individuals suffering from Chronic Fatigue can improve their quality of life tremendously if they are willing to change their daily diet, overall dietary habits and allow time for various food supplements to restore nutritional imbalances within the body.

The diet for chronic fatigue must be high in fruit, vegetables, grains and complete proteins. Proteins from fish, chicken and occasional red meat & eggs is crucial as amino acids are the building block of muscle.
Complex carbohydrates are required for sustained daily energy and stable blood sugar levels. Simple sugars are best avoid but honey from time to time helps people with sugar / sweet cravings.

All 'junk foods', fast foods, ready meals and basically any food that is tinned, preserved, flavour enhanced etc. must not be eaten. These are 'dead foods' - they contain a host of unwanted chemicals which have to be detoxified and eliminated by the liver and at the same time, they contain minimal quantities of much needed nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, fibre and trace elements.

Various supplements may be helpful:

  • Ginseng
  • Gota Kola
  • Vitamin C
  • Digestive enzymes and Probiotics (for proper digestion)
  • Acidophilus & Bifidophilus probiotics
  • Anti-fungals for candida
  • Clivers
  • Ginko
  • Goldenseal
  • Milk Thistle for liver detoxification support
  • Garlic
  • Liquorice root
  • Wormwood
  • Echinacea for immune system support
